Sunday -day 135 (May 15,2011)

....after 4 days of continous pumping Lake vennard is showing signs of drying up and we are very pleased....

....since today we had sunshine and temperatures of 17 plus I decided to make sun tea...love the stuff but sunshine is essential.....

....the violas are popping up everywhere....just love these dainty little flowers...I have them in blue solid yellow solid purple white blend and this combination....

.....I also started painting and freshening up these birdhouses....managed to get them primed..will give them second coat in the morrow......

....when I took the dogs out for there run this a.m. I chanced upon this yellow headed blackbird..they are so bright in contrast to the blue of the water.....




Today was absolutely wonderful...was such a great morning for a walk....sunshine and warmer temperatures sure improves the disposition of people..as early as 8:00 a.m. people were out puttering in their yards walking any number of things just to be outside.....it has been a very GOOD day to be alive...now it's time for a needle and off to bed.....:)

Saturday-Day 134 (May 14,2011)

this one still needs a mate...have it cut out just needs stitching....

I have amassed an awful lot of cotton fabric bits from quilt making and other projects so am trying to use up some of the smaller pieces by making some potholders...am using various quilt block designs....this one is called "Windows"

really not sure why I downloaded this pair twice...hit the button by error.....

Today has been a day to do this and that and since I had a restless night last night ...after our walk I caught up on some needed zzzzz's....did some grocery shopping tidying up and worked on some pot holders......

Friday- Day 133 (May 13,2011)

imagine our delight when this rose-brested grossbeak landed on our feeder this afternoon...we have not seen this bird for over 2 years and after watching this bird for nearly 15 minutes we watched a coyote come into our backyard and cross through and carry on into the neighbors yard (I was not quite quick enough with the camera for the coyote tho')....all this between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m........Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky?????

Thursday- Day 132 (May 12,2011)

these daffodils are so resilient...the snow crushed them down broke their stems...I went out picked them put them in water and they opened up just beautifully none the less....such inspirational little flowers...

Today it is sunny and warm and the rain stopped for now anyway...lovily morning for walk...we observed the water slowly receeding...along with all the snow we rec'd on April 28-30th we have been blessed with 2-3 inches of rain....

Al tho' it is sunny and warm we have heavy hearts today as a dear friend of ours lost his battle with cancer and passed away to a painfree place...

Wednesday-Day 131 (May 11,2011)

today albeit a much nicer day I decided to make some posters to promote the MS Walk being held June 5,2011 in Wawota...I have never participated in this fundraiser but have decided this is the year to start....I would like to thank those of you who have pledged me online and who have given me donations...check out mswalks.ca and msofs.mssociety.ca .......May is MS Awareness Month and May 26th is Worldwide Awareness Day......

Tuesday -Day 130 (May 10,2011)

the finches are happy for the breaks in the rain.....they are so colorful especially when we have a dull rainy day......

the sky has been threatening again...?#*...

the night temperature have been quite chilly but the mornings have not been to bad for walking-sure would like to see sunny mornings....oh well I am going to bake bread today.....Dull days are GOOD baking days!!!

Monday- Day 129 (May 9,2011)

it's official Lake Vennard has flooded it's banks and the water is overflowing the driveway...this along with the street boil in front of approach we are stuck in yard...we are also committed to pumping.....

the water in the ditch is street level and it is raining....

rising water and still raining...means we will not be walking today..my friend and I walk each day but as I had my needle last night I am going to rest and have a sleeping day...maybe I can dream the water away....humph!!!

Sunday-Day 128 (May 8,2011)

the willows were just starting to make pussy willows so am happy to see they haven't frozen in the storm....

I have been exploring out in the yard and am delighted to see that the buds and leaves have not been destroyed from the storm....

these honey suckle have quickly recovered and are a delight to see....

Happy Mother's Day!!! Since it is sunny warm and no rain (it is rain in forcast) I plan on puttering in my yard ...since Lyle worked last night he needs to sleep....will celebrate when he is off nights......have enjoyed the day outside and yes they were right about the rain....it started about 5:00 p.m.......no matter it is Needle Day so I am just going to bed.......

Saturday-Day 127 (May 7,2011)

I had to try out my new oven by baking a cottage loaf of bread...turned out GOOD

since it wasn't raining to hard today Lyle and I drove to Moosomin to pick up my new stove..a birthday anniversay and Mother's Day gift....since we have small appliances in our kitchen everything has to be ordered....love the ceramic top but not as much as where the controls are...

-was amazed to see the giant wind turbines up and operational...trully an amazing sight to see them turning and what a great use of the wind

Friday-Day 126 (May 6,2011)

today it is evident that the melting snow is causing flooding in our yard (water has risen to levels we have not seen in the 20 years we have been here)...building in back is our wood shed and it has about 2 " of water in it...thankfully it is also empty.....

with warmer days the water is raising fast and furious...

my walking partner leaving our yard going back to her place...water has raised to road edge...

May is MS awareness month...so when I had my nails done today I had orange polish and end MS put on them......
