Wednesday September 22,2010




today I spent the day washing scrubbing cutting slicing and bagging CARROTS....did I forget making carrot relish?...thanks to the generosity of my Uncle Nick we came back last week end with a gunny sack of carrots...I seemed to be seeing orange (probably better than red)...and by day's end I was exhausted..no TV blogging flickar facebook nothing....by the time I tidied up my house hit the shower it was enough for 1 day so off to bed I went at 8:30p.m....that's what a GOOD day's work will do......oh well there's always tomorrow......:)

today is the first day of fall or is the first day of fall September 23....depends who you ask and what calendar you look on...all I know is that by Thursday fall will be here for sure.....as promised I have sorted some photos of my Uncle Nick's place from the week end (he is my Dad's only remaing sibling) he lives on the original farm and some of the original buildings still remain making for some GOOD photos .........

Monday September 20,2010


today we spent part of day putting all our veggies away...the rest being thankful that we weren't out digging them as it was cold weput and not to nice....I am also feeling the effects of a busy week end and my needle but oh well...by the days end I am not to bad...tomorrow I will sort some more photos and post some of my other uncle's farm and yard...he lives on the home place where my Dad and he grew up...Bad day but getting Better to almost GOOD.....need GOOD night of rest.......:) ( this is my cold storage bin full of potatos carrots beets parsnips and onions)

More Sat & Sun.......

Lyle and Dad working on a fence made from harrows to protect the new little trees Dad planted...he doesn't want the moose deer or elk to eat them this winter.....

for some reason some of these carrots seemed to grow together ie. this one has 5 stems and only 1 big carrot..mutants I think lol or crazy season perhaps.....


Sat. & Sun. Sept, 18 &19, 2010

Lyle has the potatos bagged and ready to put in van to bring home...all 5 bags...sure will be nice to have these when it is cold out this winter (not only the potatos but the memories of one GOOD day in September)

today has been another one of those wet kinda days with just one or two peeks of sunshine....we are getting ready to take a few days off and go visit with my Dad and Mom....sounds like tomorrow may be the day to dig spudatos and carrots..hard finding a dry day for this job...today I am calling fungus Friday..the amount of unique fungi forming this year in the yard is beyond belief...quite unique little things too...my MS does not like cold and damp but then I don't like MS so we are even...have had a GOOD Fungis Friday...(just late posting..:( )
