March 2-March 11,2011

I love the look of this barn and the cattle just add to the beauty of it.....perfect picture for a calendar.....it is located just past Stockholm...we see it when we go to Yorkton to visit the gbabies....

this is what many of the back roads around town look like.......picture pretty but where will all that snow go this spring.......

just another winter scene showing all the snow we have this year......

guess who made these dainty little footprints?.....if you guessed a chickadee you'd be right...they were just outside our front door......so delicate and perfect.....

yes we have had some georgous springlike days in the past week.....but we have also had some real cold and dull gray days also....what ever will be will be.......

The past 10 days have blitzed by....we have had some lovily days but today has been quite blustery...so glad I am not having to travel as the roads are quite unfriendly......the deer have not been making their presence quite so prominent these past days but our doves have been visiting like clockwork...sure do enjoy seeing all the various visitors we have had this winter...I have been busy being sick this last week and after figuring it must be flu I finally went to the doctor and after several tests the verdict is...I have IBS (irratible bowel syndrome) a complication that is often present with MS sufferers..just one more side effect.......It has been GOOD tho' to discover this tho' as it is easier to deal with when you know what the problem is.....
It is amazing at how quickly this year has been rolling along...here we are nearly the middle of the month....March is MS awareness month and the week of the 14th to the 20th is MS AWARENESS week... along with the Scotties and the Brier it has also been a GOOD week for curling and having the Saskatchewan women win the Scotties makes it even better...the men were not quite so fortunate..:( but GOOD curling none the less.........:)

......patiently waiting for spring I am!!!!!

week starting March 1, 2011....

this deer was not happy with what it found on our back deck and made no bones about snubbing his nose at it......

this is our dog Ferggie watching the deer in the front yard....this has become a pastime for us all.......(barking dogs does not upset the deer ....barely raise their heads...)

...and the deer have become people watchers too,.........

this is Griffin as he points out tracks and tries to figure out which way they went.....

......and yes in spite of all the cold we have been experiencing we have had some sunshine....helping with the cabin fever we are all suffering from...........

Ah yes here we are at the first of March and it has come in with avengence...does this mean it will leave like a lamb..... apparently the ground hog was wrong with its perdiction of an early spring am I the only one or is this winter getting to be realllly long? am so looking forward to some warmer weather...as is my MS....my MS does not like extreme cold but albeit I remain healthy....no flu no cold no depression just painful legs and arms that much don't want to cooperate......just the beginning hopefully we are on the upward and forward to warmer.....GOOD thoughts of spring to all......

more from the past weeks.....

this is one of the many deer that regularily feed at our feeder.....

Griffin and Gpa Lyle photographing the deer that visit daily....watching the deer has becom an instant pastime...as is capturing them also...the one they were watching was visiting at around 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon......

Griffin captured this one...he thought it looked like it was winking as it was eating....

another of Griffin's captures...a woodpecker during a windy day getting a treat of peanutbutter....

this was another activity we engaged in when Griffin visited...these are ocarinas..small handcrafted ceramic wind instruments...played by closing and opening the holes while one blows into the top....these are 2 of the 4 we have...each one of these plays can play an octavie...in a different key......truly a new activity for me...by the time the week was over we had it figured out and were sounding quite pleasant......

Just a few more pictures of the activities we were involved in while we had our gson here visiting.....there is much to learn from the young ones in our lives...this week has been an exchange by both young and old...Griffin taught me some basic tasks on our pc...have enjoyed his stay and look forward to his next visit and his sisters visit.....:)

week starting February 14-February 28, 2011

this is one of two cats that live with our gchildren in Yorkton...they call this rescue...Tiger and she loves being the center of attention......

this is gdaughter with Tiger...

when gson Griffin was here for visit with us he needed a haircut and this was what he looked like after his haircut...handsome I think.....

Gson and I were out following some of the paths the deer have beaten around our yard...he is standing at the centre of where the paths cross deciding which way to turn.....

some of the snowbanks that grace the ditchlines of the highway.......

My blog has gotten a bit behind but when we have company I usually shut my pc down and my blog suffers a bit....this past number of days has been very cold but surely not uneventful....the gchildren had a week off from school so gson came to visit with us ...the time we spent with him has been enlightening as he shared his busy life with us.....both Lyle and I have been very fortunate to remain very healthy as so many are suffering from colds and flu.....a very GOOD week.....:)

week starting February 7,2011

it has been warm this week and it seems everybody including this squirrel are ready for some warm weather......kinda looks a bit sleepy here but he was very busy and when he had his fill here moved over to the peanut feeder......

this is 1 of 5 deer that regularily come to the bird feeder...they are quite brave as this photo was taken at about 5:15p.m. and they are only about 15 feet from our front window (where the dogs lie and watch out)....not sure but this may be the little buck that left us a horn rub.....it is interesting to watch them so closely...where we are not having trouble with them many are suffering as the deer are doing a lot of damage to many cedar trees in town.....

this is another pair of guests that regularily visit us about 3:30p.m. and 11:00 a.m....one can nearly set your watch by these two...they are a pair of ring necked doves....very pretty....

this week I was sorting clippings and old photos...this one was taken the week of February 14 th 2000...it is of my gdaughter getting a ride from her dog Jessie....was taken by an anonomus photographer and submitted to the Estevan local paper...I was trying to use my new scanner...think I may do this with a number of clippings I have .....

these are my latest pair of socks I just made for my gdaughter using up bits of wool....definately a fun project....I have started turtle back jackets for 2 of my great nieces who are waiting for a new baby brother or sister in May....
I trust each had a great Valentine's Day...thanks to all who sent us greetings and cards...we had the chance to spend Sunday past with my folks who live in Regina..we also spent time with our friend who had his first chemo treatment this week...he was in GOOD spirits but very tired...I have had a GOOD week in spite of the fact that I have been feeling a bit off...my legs and arms are still being a bother but hope warmer weather will help .....has been a GOOD week with a sprinkling of busy and a bit exhausting......

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

this is my new camera and printer...I treated myself to an upgrade in camera to a Canon Powershot SX210 IS (thanks to my sister's recommendation) and my other printer was having issues scanning so I purchased a Canon MP250 Pixma Printer.....

this little fellow was at the suet feeder when it was so cold out......

and so was this cheeky chickadee.......

yes we have snow everywhere....and yes this snow is piled nearly as high as this house....the snow is being piled everywhere and being hauled away by truck loads.....sure hope we have a slow spring melt.......

I thought he was cute but not sure why I decided on 2 pictures in one blog......
This week has been a GOOD/BAD week....on January 31 I had an appointment to see my optometrist as I was having trouble with my eyes...to my surprise he told me my left blind eye is now seeing 46% from 3%....my right eye has shown an improvement of 15% necessitating the need for a change in my lens (I usually prepare myself for bad news not news of such an improvement...left me speechless) and then Wednesday we had a phone call from a dear friend of ours telling us he had been dx with terminal lung cancer...took us a back but we went in on Sunday and visited with him ...is doing fine and has his frst treatment Thursday February 10....
along with all the cold weather this week we have had some sunshine and wind...along with some melting and snow....I am not sure if I am the only one but I am looking forward to spring this year....there has been way to much winter for my liking......

my other project I am working on is spring cleaning my storage space...kinda slow going but it is getting there and should finish up this coming week......:)

Week 4 of January 2011

this is my gdaughter along with Fergie and Holly showing me how to relax......

this is Fergie showing me how to really relax.....her favorite sleeping position......

this is what my gchildren call my basket of tricks...it is my basket which is home to my latest knitting project wool patterns and reading material.....sits beside my chair and apparently according to them is not what one would call relaxing...as I explained relaxing is just a matter of how you view it...(was a topic of conversation this week with my family).....

this is my gson showing me how to relax....(particularily like the way his sister took this photo as her reflection is behind him)......

this week I was able to get a much better photo of 1 of the 2 doves that has been regularily visiting our feeder they are quite attractive and for the past week have been regularily showing up at our feeder.....ring necked dove I believe they are called.....

this has been a warmer but quiet week...we had some melting which has caused alot of ice seeing how the temps have gone from 0 to -20 plus degrees..along with the winds it has made for some cold days and unpleasant driving...it is to be noted that we are also starting the last week of January today...
my MS has been acting up a bit more than usual this week but I am hoping that as the days warm and I can be a bit more active things will improve..my legs arms and particularily feet seem quite uncooperative...the numbness/tingling has increased also causing balance to be an issue...all in all it has been a GOOD week and next week can only be better......
