What a Week...March 11 to 15

as the snow disappears so the water starts to rise and along with that comes the many issues of flooding...fortunately we are still all above water here...Thanks to the efforts of many....
with Easter quickly approaching I am pleased to say my cards and packages for my little great nieces and nephews were completed and are ready to mail....

...this is a glimpse of what we call "Lake Vennard" located along the west side of our driveway...as the snow disappears the lake rises...no problem yet......

.....these daffy daffodils have only been out of snow for no more than 24 hours and they are poking out....

along with these tulips which have been under 5' of snow until maybe 3 days ago....they are in the very centre of my garden so am quite surprised to see them...I guess it's been a long winter for them also and they are anxious for spring.....

As everything gets anxious for spring so do I....my friend and I have been walking and it is such a treat not to be tramping thro the snow...also nice to see the changes as the warmer weather approaches.....

we are fortunate not to be flooding ...but have had to change our plans to accomadate flooding issues along the #1....

Busy but GOOD week!!! My MS appreciates the warmer days and the disappearance of the snow and ice......

promises of spring

what our little shrubs looked like on Sunday morning after our first spring storm...we were the happy recipients of between 4-8 plus cm of heavy wet soggy snow....guess we need more moisture.....
another photo of our once dry deck...albeit our snowstorm did make for some great photos....

ah yes ! this playful deer was playing peek with the dogs and I ...late last week (I think when they stop coming to the feeder I am going to miss their visits)....

this little fellow came out last week when it was sunny and warm....wonder what he thought of the snow on Sunday.......

just one of the many icicles that have formed with all the melting snow....pretty as pretty can be...spring must be on its way.....

April 1-5,2011

so begins a new month full of hopes and promises..hopes that spring and warmer days are on the way and promises that we are thro with winter... a winter that has long over stayed its's welcome.....

March 12-March 30, 2011

The past few weeks have not only been busy but they have had much fun as well as grief... -March 14-March20.....this was MS Awareness week and also included St.Patrick,s Day...full of e-mail activities and talking to fellow MS sufferers....St.Patrick's Day was a family day...had family in for supper during this week I started walking each morning with my friend for 45-60 minutes...it is so nice to have a walking partner (since my legs and feet hurt all the time I felt a walk would not cause any problems ...has proven to be an enjoyable experience) -March 21 saw the first episode of Dancing with the Stars and as anyone who knows me knows this is one of the few shows I follow and look forward to each new season March 21-27 th had a full view of the weather also..we saw the arrival spring..the weather has treated us to rain sun and yes snow...warmer and colder days as well... on the 27th hubby and I travelled to Yorkton to watch our gdaughter perform with her drama troupe for a dessert theatre...loved it ..first play very serious.."Antigone Now"...a heavy serious tradgedy followed by "I hate the Mall"...a light comedy about happenings in a mall....what a great way to start a new week and the weather was super... -March 28-31...saw a busy week of appointments with the highlight being the 31st when I travelled back to Yorkton to watch my gson participate in a floor hockey tournament...enjoyed their enthusiasm for the game their sportsmanship and display of team work....wish some days I could move as quickly as they did after 5 games when they were starting to tire...a very GOOD day ....decided to have a sleepover and come home Friday.... ....and so ends the month of March on a high note...tired and exhausted but in overall GOOD mental and physical state of being

March 2-March 11,2011

I love the look of this barn and the cattle just add to the beauty of it.....perfect picture for a calendar.....it is located just past Stockholm...we see it when we go to Yorkton to visit the gbabies....

this is what many of the back roads around town look like.......picture pretty but where will all that snow go this spring.......

just another winter scene showing all the snow we have this year......

guess who made these dainty little footprints?.....if you guessed a chickadee you'd be right...they were just outside our front door......so delicate and perfect.....

yes we have had some georgous springlike days in the past week.....but we have also had some real cold and dull gray days also....what ever will be will be.......

The past 10 days have blitzed by....we have had some lovily days but today has been quite blustery...so glad I am not having to travel as the roads are quite unfriendly......the deer have not been making their presence quite so prominent these past days but our doves have been visiting like clockwork...sure do enjoy seeing all the various visitors we have had this winter...I have been busy being sick this last week and after figuring it must be flu I finally went to the doctor and after several tests the verdict is...I have IBS (irratible bowel syndrome) a complication that is often present with MS sufferers..just one more side effect.......It has been GOOD tho' to discover this tho' as it is easier to deal with when you know what the problem is.....
It is amazing at how quickly this year has been rolling along...here we are nearly the middle of the month....March is MS awareness month and the week of the 14th to the 20th is MS AWARENESS week... along with the Scotties and the Brier it has also been a GOOD week for curling and having the Saskatchewan women win the Scotties makes it even better...the men were not quite so fortunate..:( but GOOD curling none the less.........:)

......patiently waiting for spring I am!!!!!

week starting March 1, 2011....

this deer was not happy with what it found on our back deck and made no bones about snubbing his nose at it......

this is our dog Ferggie watching the deer in the front yard....this has become a pastime for us all.......(barking dogs does not upset the deer ....barely raise their heads...)

...and the deer have become people watchers too,.........

this is Griffin as he points out tracks and tries to figure out which way they went.....

......and yes in spite of all the cold we have been experiencing we have had some sunshine....helping with the cabin fever we are all suffering from...........

Ah yes here we are at the first of March and it has come in with avengence...does this mean it will leave like a lamb..... apparently the ground hog was wrong with its perdiction of an early spring am I the only one or is this winter getting to be realllly long? am so looking forward to some warmer weather...as is my MS....my MS does not like extreme cold but albeit I remain healthy....no flu no cold no depression just painful legs and arms that much don't want to cooperate......just the beginning hopefully we are on the upward and forward to warmer.....GOOD thoughts of spring to all......

more from the past weeks.....

this is one of the many deer that regularily feed at our feeder.....

Griffin and Gpa Lyle photographing the deer that visit daily....watching the deer has becom an instant pastime...as is capturing them also...the one they were watching was visiting at around 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon......

Griffin captured this one...he thought it looked like it was winking as it was eating....

another of Griffin's captures...a woodpecker during a windy day getting a treat of peanutbutter....

this was another activity we engaged in when Griffin visited...these are ocarinas..small handcrafted ceramic wind instruments...played by closing and opening the holes while one blows into the top....these are 2 of the 4 we have...each one of these plays can play an octavie...in a different key......truly a new activity for me...by the time the week was over we had it figured out and were sounding quite pleasant......

Just a few more pictures of the activities we were involved in while we had our gson here visiting.....there is much to learn from the young ones in our lives...this week has been an exchange by both young and old...Griffin taught me some basic tasks on our pc...have enjoyed his stay and look forward to his next visit and his sisters visit.....:)
